The Problem :
There are tons of hair growth products on the market, but why are they often full of chemicals? Surely a toxic chemical overload is exactly what we DON’T need when trying to grow hair and fix scalp issues?
- Sulfates: These are surfactants used to create lather and clean the hair, but they can strip away natural oils and lead to dryness, frizz, and breakage. Common examples include Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES).
- Parabens: These are preservatives that prevent bacterial growth but have been linked to potential health concerns and hormone disruption.
- Phthalates: Chemicals used to increase product spreadability, often hidden under "fragrance." They have been linked to reproductive problems.
- Formaldehyde: A known irritant and potential carcinogen, found in some hair treatments.
- Triclosan: An antibacterial agent that has been linked to antibiotic resistance.
- Dimethicone: A silicone that can build up on the hair and prevent moisture from penetrating.

Our Research and Development Journey:
We started out on our research and development journey during covid when our salons were forced to close and off we went - to create the best hair growth and hair care kit in the world.
We trialled numerous formulations in the lab over a 4 year period but couldn’t find a formulation we were happy with. It took several formulations and a lab change to finally create formulations we were happy with.
It was a real challenge finding natural substitutes for each toxic chemical a product may normally need/have. Example – Lauryl Glucoside replaced irritant Sodium Lauryl Sulphate as our foaming agent.
- Unlike many synthetic surfactants, lauryl glucoside is a mild, biodegradable cleanser made from natural sources like coconut or palm kernel oil. It gently foams, cleanses without irritation, and is ideal for sensitive skin and eco-friendly formulations.
- Sodium Lauryl Sulphate is a widely used surfactant, or cleaning agent, normally found in various personal care and household products like toothpaste, shampoo, and body washes. It's known for its ability to create foam and help remove dirt and oils, but it can also cause skin/scalp irritation in some individuals.
Why are we using the same toxic chemicals we use to wash our floors on our hair?!
Whilst on our research journey, we also discovered that most hair loss problems start in the gut. We then knew we also needed to create the solution – a probiotic for hair growth.
- A disruption or imbalance in the composition of the gut microbiome, also referred to as dysbiosis, has been associated with conditions such as alopecia, or hair loss.
- Gut health is significantly important to hair growth. A healthy gut microbiome is crucial for absorbing the nutrients needed for strong, healthy hair, and imbalances can lead to hair loss and other scalp issues.
- By supporting a diverse and balanced gut flora, you can improve overall health and indirectly promote healthy hair growth.
Again, there were many hair growth vitamins on the market but we couldn’t find one that tackled the main concern – gut health.
It is completely pointless using a hair growth vitamin or any vitamins if your gut isn’t absorbing them.
The source of the issue needs to be dealt with – gut microbiome.
